130.03 Medical Director Meetings

PURPOSE:

To establish guidelines for the attendance of monthly Medical Director Meetings.

PROCEDURE:

  • The City of Maitland’s E.M.S. Medical Director, Dr. Todd Husty conducts monthly meetings for the purpose of quality assurance, run report review, and training.
  • The meeting will be scheduled and held once a month. Date and time will be posted on the department’s FDPL calendar in accordance to Dr. Husty’s schedule and availability.
  • Notice of the meeting will be e-mailed to all department personnel a minimum of seven (7) days prior to the meeting date containing the reports that will be reviewed at the meeting. It is the responsibility of each Paramedic to review his/her report(s) prior to the meeting and submit corrections or addendums to the meeting chairperson.
  • An “all group text” will be sent out a minimum of two (2) days prior to the meeting to remind personnel of the time and location. It is the shift commander’s responsibility to insure this task is completed.
  • Paramedics are required to attend five (5) of the twelve (12) monthly meetings within each calendar year. Paramedics in the FIT program are required to attend all meetings unless prior approval is obtained by the Deputy Fire Chief.
  • For each meeting attended, members will be credited with two (2) hours continuing education credit (CEU) toward their required hours for State Paramedic recertification. Meeting hours are from 8:30am – 10:30am. Firefighters need to arrive by 9am for CEU credits. If a firefighter arrives after 9am, they will not be credited the 2 CEU’s but will be paid OT if attending off duty. Shift personnel are excluded from this rule.
