Section 2 - EMERGENCY OPERATIONS

250.02 Apparatus Maintenance

PURPOSE:

To define a procedure for completing vehicle repair and maintenance forms thus providing written communication between members and the City Garage relating to equipment/apparatus issues.

This form will be completed whenever repair/maintenance issues arise related to apparatus and equipment. Equipment shall be maintained as defined in SOG 250.01

PROCEDURE:

  • Complete top section of form.
  • Select appropriate equipment or unit.
  • Provide a description of the problem.
  • Deliver the unit or equipment to the City Garage for repair.
  • Sign the form and fill in time and date (delivered by).
  • Have the form signed by Garage personnel (received by).
  • Fill in the time and date.
  • Tear off Pink Copy, place on clipboard in Lieutenant office at the respective station.
  • White and Yellow copy stay with the Garage.
  • If parts are on order, document this on the form (all colors).
  • When equipment has been repaired, Garage will notify FD to pick up equipment. They will fill out “notice to p/u”
  • When FD personnel pick up the equipment from the Garage, sign “received by”, time and date.
  • Yellow copy will accompany the equipment and shall be returned by the Garage with the equipment when repaired.
  • Place the yellow copy on the clipboard, discard the pink copy.
  • Equipment issues should be documented in the station pass-on books.
  • OIC shall check the clipboard daily to determine if equipment is out of service.
