110.14 Promotional Requirements
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this Standard Operating Guideline is to provide a framework for promotional opportunities and assessments within the Maitland Fire Rescue Department.
PROCEDURE:
The requirements listed below are the minimum requirements necessary to hold a particular rank level; the procedure to conduct a promotional assessment; and the objectives of each assessment. Promotional Assessment: The department will conduct a promotional assessment, at a minimum, every two years. Candidates who successfully pass all portions of the assessment will remain on a promotional list until the start of the next assessment. Minimum Requirements:
- All minimum qualifications in the job description for the classification (position) being sought. Any change to the minimum qualifications will not go into effect until 12 months after the date of change.
- Non-probationary
- Autonomous Paramedic Status
- No disciplinary actions within one year of the posted test date
- At the time of the promotional assessment test date, candidates must have attended the previous four shift-friendly FODA courses occurring on the first Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of February, May, August, and November. In cases of an unexpected circumstance, one of the classes may be substituted with an off-site approved officer related course. The Division Chief of Training must approve this course.
