Section 2 - EMERGENCY OPERATIONS
250.02 Apparatus Maintenance
PURPOSE:
To define a procedure for completing vehicle repair and maintenance forms thus providing written communication between members and the City Garage relating to equipment/apparatus issues.
Computer based fleet maintenance and inspection program shall be utilized when reporting apparatus maintenance issues.
PROCEDURE:
- If a maintenance issue is discovered at any point during a shift, the computer-based reporting system shall be utilized to record the problem and to communicate the issue to City Fleet.
- It is the responsibility of Station OIC to ensure apparatus issues that are found, are in fact reported regardless of when the problem was discovered.
- All newly reported issues must be relayed to the on-duty Battalion Chief. Any major issues that may require an apparatus to be placed OOS must be reported to the Deputy Chief or the On-Call Chief if after hours.
- Apparatus issues are to be logged under the appropriate section within the computer-based system to ensure accuracy of information and information sharing with subsequent crews.
- Once an issue is resolved by Fleet, the issue must be cleared or removed from the active section on the computer-based system and placed into an archive.
