MEDICATION INFUSION TABLES

Nitroglycerin

  • Draw 25mg (5mL) NTG from vial
  • Mix into 500mL bag NS (50mcg/mL)
  • Withdraw 60mL from bag and insert syringe into pump
  • Input 3mg for "Amount" and 60mL for "Volume"
  • Infusion begins at 5mcg/min (0.1mL/min)

Titrate to effect


Magnesium Sulfate Drip - Asthma Patients

  • Draw up 2G of Mag Sulfate in a 60mL syringe
  • Draw up the remaining syringe with NS
  • Place on to the pump
  • Run over 10 minutes


Magnesium Sulfate Drip - Eclampsia Patients

Dopamine Drip

  • Draw up 400mg of Dopamine mixed with NS for a total of 60mL.
  • Put in patient's weight kg and push "OK"
    • This is a weight based medication
  • The pump will start at 2mcg/kg/min
  • Dosing for BP starts at 5mcg/kg/min - 15mcg/kg/min
  • Dosing for Bradycardia is 2mcg/kg/min - 10mcg/kg/min

Titrate to effect


Cardizem Drip

  • Draw up Cardizem 0.25mg/kg = max of 20mg
  • Mix dose with NS to equal 60mL in the 60mL syringe
  • Cardizem is given 1 time dose over 4 minutes


Epi Drip

  • Draw up 2mg of 1:1000 Epi
  • Mix with NS for a total of 60mL in a 60ML syringe
  • Put in patient's weight in "kg" and then push "ok"
    • This is a weight based drip. The concentration is 2000mcg/60mL
    • Dose is .01 - .04mcg/kg/min

Titrate to effect


Lidocaine Drip

  • Draw up 60mL of Lidocaine from the premixed bag of 2G in 500mL.
  • Remember the pump will show 2000mg in 500mL
  • The concentrate is still 4mg/mL
  • Starting dose is 1 - 4mg/min
