Section 8 - MEDICATION GUIDELINES

CORTICOSTEROIDS

Methylprednisolone (SOLU-MEDROL) / Corticosteroid

DESCRIPTION

  • Anti-inflammatory. Suppresses the immune response.

INDICATIONS

CONTRAINDICATIONS

  • Hypersensitivity to the medication

PRECAUTIONS

  • Must be reconstituted and used promptly. Onset of action 2-6 hrs.

DOSAGE

  • Adults: 125 mg IVP
  • Pediatrics: Refer to Handtevy System
    • 2 mg/kg IVP
